Though he published only one book in his lifetime, Ludwig WITTGENSTEIN was one of the most influential philosophers of his generation.  The youngest son of a wealthy family, never comfortable with the academic environment where his ideas were so prized, his was largely a life of the mind.  By turns eccentric and reclusive, worrying over being misunderstood or being an influence to younger philosophers he disagreed with, he cast a wide shadow.
